Monteverde Mountains of the World- Mount Everest Ballpoint

The Monteverde Mountains of the World pen collection takes its inspiration from the various famous mountains around the world. The current lineup includes: Mount Denali, Mount Everest, and Mount Vesuvio. I was recently sent the Mount Everest ballpoint pen and the Mount Denali fountain pen by my friends at YAFA Pens to review; thanks go out to them for providing these. This review is of the Mount Everest Ballpoint, and the Mount Denali will be coming soon. If you like the review and would like to get one for yourself, check them out at Monteverde’s webstore.
Design:  The resin is a wonderful pattern of white and black swirls. The top finial is rounded and gradually widens to the top of the clip. The clip has a small Monteverde logo, a mountain inside of a circle, engraved at the top and there is a slight taper to the bottom of the clip which ends with a slight upturn. It is a tight clip, but it holds the pen nicely in place on thin and thick cloth. Below the clip, there are four steel cap bands. In the middle of the pen, there is another steel band which indicates where the pen splits to refill it. The bottom half of the pen body tapers down to a large steel nosecone which has the Monteverde name engraved around it. The ballpoint is extended and retracted via a twist mechanism, which is butter smooth and softly clicks into place. To refill the pen, you simply retract the mechanism and continue to turn the barrel approximately four turns to open the pen. The cartridge is held in place with the assistance of a spring so be careful not to lose this when refilling the pen.Writing Performance: The pen comes with a Monteverde P13 “Parker Style” cartridge. These are smooth writers and can keep up even when writing fast. One of the benefits of this style cartridge is the availability of colors and widths offered by Monteverde. It comes with a standard black, but I use this same cartridge in turquoise and blue/black in my other ballpoints.20181008_223025Filling System: Monteverde P13 ballpoint.Value: This model sells for around $65 USD.20181029_094329Overall: This is a beautifully made writing instrument. The resin is stunning and is perfectly complimented by the steel clip, nosecone, and bands. All the details play well together to create one perfectly made pen. The ability to customize the refill to whatever color or width you prefer is a bonus as well. I am not normally a non-fountain pen user, but this was used on a regular basis while I had it for testing and review.Specs:Name: Monteverde Mountains of the World- Mount EverestDesign: Twist mechanism ballpointLength: 149mm (5.85 in)Posted: N/ADiameter: 12.7mm (.5 in)Weight: 34g (1.19 oz)Filling System: Monteverde P13 refill.
