Monteverde Mountains of the World- Denali fountain Pen

The Monteverde Mountains of the World pen collection takes its inspiration from the various famous mountains around the world. The current lineup includes: Mount Denali, Mount Everest, and Mount Vesuvio. I was recently sent the Mount Everest ballpoint pen and the Mount Denali fountain pen by my friends at YAFA Pens; thanks go out to them for providing these for review. This review is of the Mount Denali fountain pen. If you like the review and would like to get one for yourself, check them out at Monteverde’s webstore.
Design: The cap finial is rounded, and the cap gradually widens until it reaches the top of the clip. The clip has the Monteverde mountain logo engraved at the top, and it then tapers down with slight upturn at the end of the clip. Below the clip there are four steel cap band rings. The body has a gradual taper from the grip section to the bottom finial. The bottom finial is a rounded steel cone with the word Monteverde engraved twice around it. The cap does post, but it makes the pen a bit too long in my opinion. The cap screws on with approximately two turns. There is a stepdown from the body to the grip section, but the section is long enough that the threads and stepdown are not an encumbrance when writing. The grip section is shiny black material instead of the resin the rest of the pen is made from. I personally would have liked to see the same material used here, but it does offer a nice contrast to the blue and white resin. Lastly, there is a steel ring at the end of the smooth grip section, but it is flush with the rest of the grip so there is no finger stop. I had no problems with my fingers slipping even during longer writing session, so the lack of a finger stop isn’t an issue for me.20181008_223250Nib Performance: I received this model in fine point and is a perfect western fine nib. The nib is smooth with a tiny bit of feedback but is not scratchy at all. It wrote right out of the box and laid down a nice medium wet/dry line with no skipping or hard starts even after sitting for a few days. There is branding very lightly imprinted on the nib as well. The Monteverde logo is engraved below the breather hole, there is an outline of a mountain range stretching across the nib, the words “Monteverde USA” are engraved at the base of the nib where it meets the grip section, and lastly “Monteverde” is engraved on the left tine.20181008_223228Filling System: Cartridge/ConverterValue: This model retails for $85 USD but it can be found for around $70.20181029_094316Overall: I think this is a great price for the quality of the writing instrument you receive. The resin patterns are stunning and vary from pen to pen making your unique to you. The pen is perfectly balanced and works well for short or long writing sessions. Overall, the pen has a wonderful vintage feel and is made from beautiful materials. I really enjoyed this pen.Specs:Name: Monteverde Mountains of the World- Mount DenaliDesign: ResinLength: 150mm (5.9 in)Posted: 167mm (6.6 in)Diameter: 12.7mm (.5 in)Weight: 30g (1.05 oz)Nib: Stainless SteelFilling System: Cartridge/ ConverterPros: Beautiful material, lightweight for longer writing sessions, unique pattern to each penCons: Might be too long if you post the capIn the same price range:Twsbi Vac 700RKaras Kustoms Fountain KLamy Studio
